Many box-like garden rooms sit uneasily in their garden settings. We linked this one to the garden by creating a decked area fringed with raised planters. The central axis of symmetry flows from the midpoint of the sliding doors and bisects the design. This centres the structure in that space. A 45 degree path links the deck to the house door and all the paving elements follow this orientation. Greys in the paving pick up greys in the doorframe and light fittings and the cedar cladding will, over time tone down to this too.
