The previous owners of this garden had fenced off the river, obscuring the view of it entirely. The brief was to open vistas and access to the river. This was achieved by indenting the retaining wall, thus creating a circular seating area, fringed with lavender. Having the aromatic lavender at head height whilst seated gives for a very pleasant evening around the fire. An unsafe and uneven bank has been resolved with a deck path with steps down to the river.
